Local/State Advocacy
The HOT MOAA chapter supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and we annually invite our State/Congressional Representatives to speak to our chapter.
The chapter also actively supports the Texas Council of Chapters in various state veterans’ issues. We include legislative updates in our monthly newsletter and e-mail members on special legislative issues for contact with their elected representatives.
Chapter Advocacy Update: On 30-31 March 2025, several of Chapter members traveled to State Capitol in Austin as a part of the MOAA Texas Council of Chapters (TCC) “Advocacy in Austin” to advocate for Texas Veterans benefits and needs at the beginning of the 89th Texas Legislative Session. We visited with numerous senators and representatives and discussed priority areas before they go to the floor for vote. Priority areas included VA benefits, quality of life for vulnerable Veterans and surviving spouses, affordable housing initiatives, reasonably priced childcare, and intern programs for transitioning Veterans. For more information visit the TCC website.
