About

Our Chapter

Heart of Texas (HOT) MOAA was chartered in 1971 and serves Waco, McLennan County and the adjacent counties. See Our Service Region map.

The Heart of Texas Chapter holds 11 meetings a year featuring guest speakers on topics relevant to the members in regards to local items or interest, military and legislative issues, or local public or private citizens in prominent positions. See Chapter Activities.

Our chapter membership is open to active duty, National Guard, Reserve retired  and former commissioned officers and warrant officers, surviving spouses of the six uniformed services: Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The Chapter supports the local veteran community and their families through social engagements, volunteerism, financial support and advocacy at the state and local level. Join or Renew.

Since 2006, awards of the chapter’s educational scholarship and monetary support programs totaled over $200,000 to deserving students attending or planning to attend accredited schools of higher education, to Baylor University Army and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets, to cadets in Junior ROTC units at five local area high schools, to the Heart of Texas Young Marines program, and to multiple veterans programs in Central Texas.
